The Hum of Yes!

There’s something to be said for dissatisfaction. Namely, it’s an opening to perceive and posit new ideas. In other words: dissatisfaction can be a creative gold mine.

As a recent work came to a finish, I pasted the last piece…

only to see that the first piece pasted (practically right in the middle) clearly dampened the color thrust forward. Aargh!

What then? Pink, dark blue, dark purple…no, no, no. Ahh. Black! Where was that small black rectangle I remembered seeing? In which box? Which pile? Where? Got it. Pause. What about a continuation of that lemon yellow on the right side? A diamond-shaped lemon yellow piece I spotted unexpectedly fit (but not exactly) in the intended space with a serendipitous result. That was it! Almost forming a three dimensional shape.

From the Growl of Aargh to the pleasurable Hum of Yes!

The black and yellow cutouts are just taped on for now – just in case I enter the Growl of Aargh again. However, I take little peeks now and then in different lighting, and it’s been an instant “yes” each time. The feeling? Like a smooth ride in a stretch Cadillac convertible with the wind in your hair and the sun behind. I am enjoying these moments of satisfaction.

I will decide how best to make the change…later.
