Splayed Again!

End of the weekend.

In between and after talking on the phone, researching writing rubrics, walking around the nature reserve, shopping for food, and washing some laundry…Yes! I finished my latest work with splayed cutouts.

Splayed IV seconds old!

The challenge of working with splayed cutouts continues to interest me. How to assemble the pieces in an unordered way while trying to keep a dynamic and balance in place. It’s a direction I like (not that I have given up on rows, columns, geometric shapes, and repetitive patterns) and feel motivated to pursue alongside other work with different compositional explorations. Often, I find myself imagining these color cutouts as sculpture. Huge groupings of blocks radiating color. Hmmmm…Til then. Will these splayed cutouts reach out and create a dialogue with any viewers? That leads me to a bit of advertising: October 7 opening for a showing of my work at the local library. Come see the work face to face!

Yeah! A new show! Hope to see you there. It will be good to see my latest work hung all together in a large space.
